After the tragic death of Academy Award nominated director John Singleton, who directed Michael’s short film Remember the Time, the Estate of Michael Jackson released the following statement:
We are deeply saddened by the passing of director John Singleton, a trailblazer in entertainment who became the first African-American and youngest person ever nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director. Through films like Boyz N the Hood, Rosewood and Poetic Justice John told stories about the African-American experience that deserved to be heard with his unique insight and compassion. John’s collaboration with Michael on “Remember the Time” produced one of the most innovative and creative short films Michael ever made, leading to a working relationship and friendship both men always cherished. Our thoughts are with his loved ones. John Singleton will be missed. – The Estate of Michael Jackson
RIP John Singleton. Your work will live forever.
